Cloud-based means convenience, flexibility, and security

The HR Hub is just the next of the SimpleCity modules to be available in the cloud. At gWorks, our goal is to migrate our existing platform to the cloud so we can ensure we are offering the latest and greatest technology to our clients. So what’s so great about “the cloud” and why is it the new gold standard in local government software?

There are A LOT of benefits of moving to the cloud. Below are just a few of those and the impact they’ll have on you and your agency.

Modern & Simple Experience

A move to the cloud gives us the opportunity to revamp our software platform. That means we can offer you the same robust functionality but in a simpler, more modern, and streamlined interface.

Security

94% of businesses saw an improvement in security after switching to the cloud (source). The cloud utilizes additional security measures and encryption. All sensitive data stored in databases and being sent over networks is encrypted, so information is less accessible to anyone not authorized to view it. On top of that, a cloud host’s full time job is to carefully monitor security, which is a lot more efficient than an in-house system that also has to take into account a variety of other IT needs.

Accessibility & Flexibility

In a world where working from home (or anywhere outside the office) is not only a convenience but in many cases a necessity, being able to access your data and complete critical job functions anywhere is a must. The cloud relies on similar principles as web-based email: you get to access all the features and data without having to keep the system installed on your own computer. You can access your email anywhere; we want to offer you the same convenience for your agency’s data and workflows to keep your agency running without disruption.

Reduced IT Needs

Our team handles the performance upgrades and security patches which will reduce your IT costs and overhead. By relying on an outside organization to handle your IT hosting and infrastructure, you’ll have more time to spend focusing on your agency.

Collaboration & Controls

Collaboration is simple and multiple employees can share information securely. And, in the event you require approvals or have a system of checks and balances, the cloud makes it easier to spread out the responsibility. Since everything is stored in once place, it’s easier to maintain consistent data, avoid human error, and have a clear record of changes.

Loss Prevention & Disaster Recovery

If you’re not in the cloud, all your valuable data is tied to your office computers or services. If you have hardware issues, this could result in permanent data loss. Anything from a virus to general hardware deterioration to user error can be disastrous. If you aren’t on the cloud, you risk losing all the information saved locally, including the manual backups from the software.

Automatic Software Updates

No more manual updates. Cloud-based applications refresh and update themselves so software updates can happen automatically and regularly. In fact, we typically do weekly updates for our current cloud products and our clients don’t have to do a thing.
